so, the whole concept of jehovah having people going to heaven to rule with christ doesn't make sense to me.

doesn't the idea that christ "needs" helpers insinuate that he is not the perfect ruler that he is portrayed to be?

this is for all atheists, skeptics, believers, anyone to post the biggest contradictions that you believe are found in the bible, and also to tell about why you believe the god of the old testament (yahweh/jehovah) is a "monster" (as so many have said on this website in the past).. so this is a double-themed-thread!.

i want to see if i can provide good answers/solutions using logic and reasoning..

i am posting this thread because i think it greatly help myself (and other christian believers) to better understand your beliefs and your viewpoints, if you posted a short (or long) summary of what the reasons and basis are for your not believing that there is a god, or for believing that we cannot know god if he exists.. you can include arguments against god, against the bible, against the christian interpretations of the bible, etc.. you can include scientific evidence that you believe contradicts the bible, or contradicts the existence of a god/creator/designer.. christians believers: you are welcome to post counter-arguments, or summaries for why you believe in god/creator/designer or why you believe in the bible or the christian interpretations of the bible.. i also thought it might be good to link to another lively thread we had on this website a while back: http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/beliefs/175688/1/god-morals-and-atheists.

when you include your reasons for why you don't believe in god or the bible, or why you do believe in god or the bible, please include at least a little bit of the evidence (or link to the evidence) that backs up your statement.. for example, it doesn't do much good to claim "evolution is false" and just leave it at that, or on the other hand, to say "the bible is full of scientific errors" and just leave it at that.. here are two threads i posted where i explained the reasons why i personally believe in god and the bible:.

Unfortunately, I think you might be a Creator "Creator Denier". Because we all know that everyone was made by the creator, so the creator must have been made by the creator's creator. But I suppose you deny that self evident truth.

A suicide bomber says Allahu Akbar and then kills himself and 20-30 people.

Any difference (besides David not killing himself in the process)? I think both were terrorists. But David was worse.

How did the idea that Jesus' ministry lasted 3 1/2 years develop?

i previously asked about the evolution in the application of daniel 9 to the christian's jesus.. naturally, leo generously provided the answer, and i am deeply greatful to her for her help!.

she also pointed out that the "solution" that jesus' ministry lasted 3 1/2 years is circular reasoning.

that is, we know that the prophecy is correct and that jesus' ministry lasted for 3 1/2 years because that is what the prophecy had predicted.

The WTS banks on the gospel of John and says that because he mentions 3 passovers, his ministry must have been 3 1/2 years long. Unfortunately for the WTS, John only mentions 2 passovers - and "a festival", which the WTS (and others, perhaps) take to mean another passover. But that's "going beyond what is written".

UnDfD - VoidEater is describing a common atheist position, not agnosticism: As atheists, we recognize that we do not have the answers to all the questions - unlike theists, who insist that their particular god has given them all the answers already. The point of the FSM is to indicate that there is no proof for the claims made about him, just as there is no proof about the claims made for any other god. No belief is required to recognize that we as yet do not know something. That being said, the answers may be knowable, and that is what science is searching for. Finally, if you postulate that "God" caused the big bang, then you must explain the origin of god. If you say "he always has existed", then why can't you say that about the matter that has expanded in the big bang?
